Markram Leads the Way for South Africa as They Close in on WTC Title

T20 Blast 2025

Southampton, June 13 — Aiden Markram’s brilliant century and Temba Bavuma’s composed fifty have put South Africa within touching distance of their maiden World Test Championship (WTC) title. At the end of Day 3, South Africa stood at 213/2, needing just 69 more runs to win the final.

Earlier in the day, Markram led the chase with a patient and powerful innings, staying unbeaten on 49 at Tea, steering the reply after an early setback. He eventually went on to score a match-defining hundred, making up for his first-innings duck. Bavuma added valuable support with a gritty half-century.

With eight wickets in hand and momentum on their side, South Africa seems to be poised to seal the WTC 2025 crown on Day 4.
